عدوى في القولون تظهر غالباً بعد المضادات الحيوية، لأنها تقتل البكتيريا النافعة فتتكاثر هذه البكتيريا وتفرز سموم تسبب إسهال شديد.A colon infection that usually follows antibiotics: they kill the healthy bacteria, letting this bug multiply and release toxins that cause severe diarrhoea.

الأمعاء الدقيقة والغليظةSmall and large bowel

القولونColonيمتص الماء ويجهز البراز، ويبدأ من الأعور جنب الزائدة.Absorbs water and forms stool; it begins at the caecum beside the appendix.

السببThe cause

المضاد الحيويAntibiotics

المضادات الواسعةBroad-spectrum antibioticsمثل الكلينداميسين والسيفالوسبورين والكينولون.Such as clindamycin, cephalosporins and quinolones.

عوامل الخطرRisk factorsكبر السن، التنويم الطويل، ومثبطات الحمض.Older age, long hospital stays and acid suppressants.

العلاجTreatment

مضاد خاص + عزلA specific drug + isolation

الدواءDrugفانكومايسين أو فيدازوميسين بالفم، وإيقاف المضاد المسبب لو أمكن.Oral vancomycin or fidaxomicin, and stop the culprit antibiotic if possible.

منع الانتشارStop spreadرداء وقفازات، وغسل اليدين بالماء والصابون، وتنظيف بالكلور.Gown and gloves, soap-and-water hand washing, and chlorine cleaning.
